The Charlotte Hoops Challenge

The Charlotte Hoops Challenge is sponsored by the nonprofit organization, MW United, Inc.  MW United, Inc was established in 2010 by teachers and basketball coaches; Cristie Mitchell and O.Jermaine Walker.   The Charlotte Hoops Challenge is in it's 11th year and continues to grow in stature each year.  The CHC is the only Nationally Recognized Thanksgiving tournament in North Carolina and we take pride in providing a great experience for both the players and spectators.  Dave Telep (San Antonio Spurs Recruiting Director) said "we are filling the void in High School basketball exposure in North Carolina".  Hundreds of college coaches, scouts, and media have covered the Charlotte Hoops Challenge in the past eight years and many players have received scholarship offers at our event.  

Tournament Director- Cristie Mitchell

Cristie Mitchell is the head girls basketball coach at South Mecklenburg High School. Mitchell is a Nationally Board Certified Physical Education teacher.  She has been teaching and coaching for 22 years. 

Tournament Director- O. Jermaine Walker

O. Jermaine Walker is co-founder of the Charlotte Hoops Challenge and Select 60 Showcase.  He has 21 years of experience coaching High School and AAU basketball.  He teaches Sports Marketing at West Charlotte High School.  

National Recognition

The Charlotte Hoops Challenge is a Nationally Recognized High School Basketball event held Thanksgiving weekend annually. The event has been ranked in the Top 10 events in the Country by MaxPreps and ESPN.
The invitation only event brings hundreds of college coaches, scouts, and media to provide exposure for the high school basketball player.
